Workshop outline: Women's Assault Prevention
There are three skills every woman should know in order to defend herself. The first is the awareness to see and recognize that a potential attack is about to occur, as well as having a safety plan to avoid dangerous situations.
Second is having the assertiveness skills to "bring up" and say something about inappropriate behavior to someone who is "testing the waters" to see how far they can get with you.
The third is having the skills to physically stop someone from harming you. These are easy to learn and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
If your daughter has taken this class, please consider taking it yourself. Becoming a role model for confidence, assertive behavior, and the courage to stand up for yourself physically and emotionally is one of the best ways to ensure your daughter does the same.
