Assertiveness Workshop

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

This workshop is a continuation of our Personal Safety Lecture. Having the ability to educate strangers, casual acquaintances, best friends, and family members about how one wants to be treated is the most important skill a young person can have today. This  skill will help them in their personal relationships and will be an invaluable tool throughout their life.

André Salvage and Associates will share the principles of being effectively assertive in a way that is comfortable and gets results without alienating themselves and others. In a safe environment, we will guide them through mock confrontational exercises that will strengthen their assertiveness skills and prevent them from moving like a victim or a challenge.

WORKSHOP OUTLINE

Assertiveness is like a muscle that needs exercising. Through real life role play, we will practice hearing others objectively and asserting ourselves effectively.  Role plays, discussion, and lecture include cover the following topics:

  • Role playing on how to handle aggressive behavior
  • Knowing the difference between Assertiveness, Aggressiveness, and Passiveness
  • Educating people on how to treat you
  • Voice control
  • Body language
  • Speaking to friends, strangers, and casual acquaintances.
  • De-escalating potentially dangerous situations
  • Asserting oneself while keeping the relationship

WORKSHOP OUTCOME

The main goal of this workshop is to help young people find their voice, trust their intuition, and effectively deal with conflict or dangerous situations.
