I have regular "Zoom Conversations" with the Kung Fu students and would like to extend an invitation to the community to join us as we continue to discuss the topic of Freedom of Speech while again practicing the listening and speaking skills of Acknowledging what you Hear and Taking Notes. This is a safe space where all thoughts, feelings, opinions, knowledge, and experiences are respected and appreciated.

TOPIC PROMPT

Freedom of speech—Censorship

I would like to continue our discussion about free speech. This time, I would like to discuss Censorship and Freedom of Speech. During the last discussion, there was a general consensus that power, censorship go hand-in-hand. Whoever has “power” can and will try to censor others.

My prompt questions are:

  • Should the internet censor people from saying what they want?
  • Should someone giving a speech in an open or private forum be censored?
  • If the answer is yes, who should make that decision?
I would love to hear your thoughts. Please join me on Wednesday, December 8, from 6:30 to 7:45 pm PST.
