We are excited to once again be part of  Family Week at Rancho La Puerta.

Laughter, learning and togetherness are the hallmarks of this amazing family week—hailed by everyone who’s been in recent years as one of the best family bonding experiences anywhere. You AND your children will also find plenty of time to discover new friends, try new adventures, and relish your independence.

Our contribution to the week:

In a safe, fun environment, without instilling fear and with age appropriate information, our team will share vital tools necessary to prevent potential assaults. This is done with the knowledge of three important skills: the awareness to avoid dangerous situations, assertiveness skills to handle predatory behavior, and the hands-on training to stop someone from harming you.

Descriptions of our teen, tween, and women's classes are below.

Teen Self Defense and Life Skills Class.
Have you ever felt threatened or pressured to do something you really didn’t want to? Have you ever been in a situation where you wanted to say something, but kept quiet? Have you found yourself in a situation where you didn’t feel safe or been hurt by someone you thought you could trust? If yes, or if you want to make sure you have the skills in case this does ever happen to you, take this class. You will learn how to protect yourself not only with words, but also physically.

Tweens Assertiveness and Safety Class.
Have you ever been picked on or seen your friends getting harassed? Want to learn some quick skills to defend yourself? In this class, André Salvage will teach ways to speak up when you want to as well as use your hands and feet to stop anyone who might be trying to hurt you, whether an older person or someone your age. . No one has the right to make you feel uncomfortable or harm you. If they do, you have the right to run away, say something or defend yourself—and this class will show you how.

Assault Prevention Seminar for Women.
There are three skills every woman should know in order to defend herself. The first is the awareness to see and recognize that a potential attack is about to occur, as well as having a safety plan to avoid dangerous situations.

Second, having the assertiveness skills to “bring up” and say something about inappropriate behavior to someone who is “testing the water” to see how far they can get with you.

The third is having the skills to physically stop someone from harming you. These are easy to learn and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
