This class is designed for Moms and Daughters to work together when faced with a potentially dangerous situation, to help each other model assertiveness skills, and to remind each other that they are worth defending.
This is an empowering, connecting and fun way to be on the same page when it comes to personal safety. Everything discussed in the class will be age appropriate and easy for both parent and daughter to learn. At the end of the class all participants will have real tools they will be able to access whether alone or together for their personal safety and well-being.
There are three skills every woman should know in order to defend herself. The first is the awareness to see and recognize that a potential attack is about to occur, as well as having a safety plan to avoid dangerous situations.
Second is having the assertiveness skills to "bring up" and say something about inappropriate behavior to someone who is "testing the waters" to see how far they can get with you.
The third is having the skills to physically stop someone from harming you. These are easy to learn and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
André Salvage has been teaching self-defense and assault and rape prevention in Marin, San Francisco, and throughout the United States for over thirty years. André’s background, natural abilities, sensitivity and concern for the safety of his seven children have helped him create effective, easy-to-learn self-protection programs.
He works with people of all ages on safety, assertiveness, sexual harassment, anti-bullying, and self-defense.
