LECTURE OVERVIEW The majority of violence that occurs is predictable. The key to not being a victim is in one’s ability to be aware, have a plan, learn to respect his or her own boundaries, and speak up when something is not right. This course is designed to share with students how to recognize potentially violent peers, and what to do if they suspect violent behavior. Without instilling fear, or using stereotypes, Andre Salvage and Associates Inc, will share with each student tools, skills, and plans that will keep themselves and others safe. LECTURE OUTLINE How to recognize potentially violent people. Listening to messages behind people's words. External signs of violence. Having a plan. How to tell someone your concerns. What to do if approached on the street. What to do if you suspect or know someone is planning violence. Who to talk to if you are feeling violent tendencies.
LECTURE OUTCOME School should be a place where students can learn the necessary skills for life. It should be a time of excitement and discovery, not a place where they worry if they will get to school safely, or whether or not someone will decide to harm them. The intended outcome of this course is to give students peace of mind by giving them real applicable tools to face problems and threats that affect them. |
