LECTURE OVERVIEW

There are special concerns and dangers young women will face, that if not discussed can leave a young woman vulnerable and open to unsafe and dangerous situations. Approaching these fears honestly and safely is the goal of this lecture. This lecture is designed to share with young women how to become objectively aware of the dangers that exist and give them real life tools to handle threatening situations.

Awareness

  • Having a safety plan
  • Recognizing inappropriate and dangerous situations
  • Listening to your intuition
  • The dangers of some cultural attitudes towards young men and young women
  • Being pulled by friends and strangers
  • Recognizing when someone is "testing the waters"

    Assertiveness

  • Educating people on how to treat you
  • Proper body language
  • Being objective
  • Not moving like a victim nor a challenge
  • Using your voice correctly

    Self Defense

  • Trusting your intuition
  • Free hand, free limb, vital area
  • How to stop someone from harming you
