| This Advanced Class is a continuation of the principles acquired in the Beginning Assault Prevention class. You will learn how to defend yourself against an attacker with a knife or gun, as well as against multiple attackers. Although the thought of weapons and multiple attackers can seem overwhelming, in a safe and empowering environment, we will de-myth these fears and share important life skills on how to overcome these concerns. You will leave the class with a confident knowledge of how to protect yourself, as well as your family, should an attack occur. To truly be effective, the other principles of personal safety (intuition, awareness, and assertiveness) will also be reviewed and practiced. COURSE OUTLINE Awareness
- Trusting to your intuition
- Stilling your fears
- Knowing whether or not the threat of the weapon is real
- Using your surroundings as a weapon
Assertiveness
- Asking questions, making suggestions
- What to say (what not to say), when there is a weapon
- Deescalating the situations.
- Using your voice as a weapon
Self Defense
- Attacking when necessary
- Defense tactics against a gun and knife
- Defense against multiple attackers
- Positioning yourself and your attacker for escape and defense
- Free Hand, Free Limb, Vital Area.
