LECTURE OVERVIEW:

This lecture goes beyond the normal do’s and don’ts of personal safety and explores safety life principles that effect the choices teens make everyday. From dealing with pressures from adult, peers and society to how to trust yourself about decision that will affect the rest of your life.

In an honest and safe environment, we share with students the tools necessary to objectively view life’s situations whether threatening or not and make decisions that perpetuate their growth, safety and well being.

LECTURE OUTLINE:

Awareness

  • Listening to your intuition
  • Dealing with your own and others fears and angers
  • Cultural attitudes towards men and women
  • Popular opinion versus your intuition

Assertiveness

  • Educating people on how to treat you
  • De-escalating problems
  • Being objective
  • Not moving like a victim or a challenge

Self Defense

  • How assaults occur
  • Trusting your intuition
  • Free hand, free limb, vital area
  • How to stop someone from harming you

LECTURE OUTCOME:

These three basic principles will bring understanding to the importance of awareness, assertiveness, and self-defense. These are life tools that students can utilize in every aspect of their lives.
